Celebration Tree Program
Some moments deserve more than flowers or a card.
Trees of Celebration offer a meaningful way to honor a person, milestone, or memory by planting a native tree that will grow alongside Knoxville for decades to come. Whether you are celebrating a life well lived, a new beginning, or something in between, your gift becomes part of our shared urban canopy.
Celebration Trees are planted between December and April each year in a predetermined public location. For the current planting season, trees will be planted at Tyson Park and Malcolm Martin Park.
This is celebration with roots.
How It Works
With a $300 donation, Trees Knoxville will plant an 8–12 foot native tree in a public space within Knox County. Your donation covers the full cost of the tree’s journey, including purchasing, delivery, planting, watering, and maintenance during its two-year establishment period.
We work with you to select a tree species using the urban forestry principle of Right Tree, Right Place, ensuring the tree can thrive and provide long-term benefits to the community. You may request a species from Trees Knoxville’s community canopy list, though final placement and species selection are guided by site conditions and community needs.
Planting locations are determined based on neighborhood benefit and approval by the appropriate jurisdiction. If you would like to attend the planting, that can often be arranged with advance coordination through our staff.

Each Celebration Tree strengthens our urban canopy, improves air and water quality, and makes public spaces more welcoming. More importantly, it creates a lasting symbol of remembrance, joy, or gratitude that will be enjoyed for generations.
What Your Celebration Tree Includes
Every Celebration Tree donation comes with:
- The option to feature your tree in our monthly newsletter, The Leaflet
- An electronic certificate that can be emailed to the honoree or printed and shared
- An e-card sent immediately after your donation
- A thank-you note from Trees Knoxville acknowledging your 100% tax-deductible gift
For an additional $25 donation, a personalized card from Trees Knoxville can be mailed to the recipient via USPS.
